H2OO Policy Advocacy 3-Day intensive March 19-21 (the Americas/Caribbean/Am Samoa) / March 20-22 (Guam,CNMI) focusing on the Ocean Climate Action Plan (OCAP) and the US House of Representatives Ocean-Based Climate Solutions Act and policy advocacy skill-building training with expert policy advocates!
What are we preparing for you ask? Speaking to US Congresspersons about our needs for our future!
On April 13-14 (the Americas/Caribbean/Am Samoa) / April 14-15 (Guam,CNMI) we head to US Capitol Hill virtually for the OCAP-organized Hill Days. If you are a youth age 13-25* years in the US or a “Territory” or otherwise occupied land, we highly urge you to participate and be the voice for your generation and your community.

What will we do in those 3 days? A lot!
To accommodate different time zones we are holding the Retreat 2x each day grouping participants into two time zone groupings — Group A & Group B.
Day 1 Group A @ 9:00am-12:30pm US PST / Group B @ 3:00-6:30pm US PST
-Hear from a Federal Congressperson and a California State Assembly person
-Learn how a plan becomes a law in the US Federal system
-Youth policy advocates share their experiences as policy advocates
-Research OCAP and the House Ocean-Based Climate bill at issue
Day 2 Group A @ 9:00-12:15pm US PST / Group B @ 3:00-6:15pm US PST
-Experts and experienced youth speak to strategy in approaching lawmakers seeking support of or opposition to a bill
-Focused workshops on the OCAP and the House Ocean-Based Climate bill
Day 3 Group A @ 9:00am-12:15pm US PST / Group B @ 3:00-6:15pm US PST
-Mock sessions with experts: Practice speaking to a Congressperson!
