2nd Global Planning Meeting - UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030)

Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO

UN Agency

The Global Planning Meeting will provide a forum to gather approximately 200 thought-leaders/champions/key stakeholders. A mixture of plenary and break-out groups will facilitate international, interdisciplinary discussions across sectors (such as: ocean science and technology; ocean policy and sustainable development; business and industry; NGOs and civil society; donors and foundations) to identify concrete deliverables and partnerships to meet the Decade's six societal objectives.

With the number of detected coronavirus (covid-19) cases continuing to grow, including in France, the UNESCO management has been monitoring the outbreak and has also been following the United Nations and host country responses and guidance towards minimizing the virus spread and its impact.

Your health is the highest priority for us. In the current circumstances, the Ocean Decade team regret very much to inform you that, as a precautionary measure, the Second Global Planning Meeting planned March 18 to 20 at UNESCO in Paris, France is cancelled.
