Under the aegis of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Monaco Explorations joins some thirty marine science organizations to deliver on World Oceans Day a message of hope promoting a positive communication on the oceans’ role in overcoming contemporary challenges.

Building on the fruitful discussions of the third meeting of the Monaco Ocean Science Federation held during Monaco Ocean Week 2021, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and 27 leaders of major marine science organizations co-signed an op-ed published on World Oceans Day in the French newspaper Le Parisien. The op-ed argues that the advancement of marine sciences and related discoveries give a new meaning to progress and calls to seize the opportunity of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development to cultivate this optimism and show the importance of the Ocean for the future of humanity. It sees also in marine sciences a reminder that we can stand shoulder to shoulder with Nature to ensure our common future rather than trying to distance ourselves from it or dominate it. In accordance with the motto of Monaco Explorations - Reconnecting Humanity and the Sea – the signatories invite to rebuild trust and solidarity between science, decision-makers and the whole of society.
