Call for expression of interest to join the Communications Advisory Group of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030)

The objective of this call for expression of interest is to identify suitable candidates to be part of the Communications Advisory Group to advise the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO as well as other Decade governance structures to be set up at the start of the Decade in early 2021, in accordance with the Decade Implementation Plan.

IOC-UNESCO is looking for experts with relevant experience in communications, marketing and public relations, related to one or more of the following fields: 

  • Sustainable Development 
  • Marine knowledge and research, ocean observation and monitoring, oceanography 
  • Maritime security and surveillance 
  • International ocean governance 
  • Maritime economy 
  • Marine and maritime data and information processing and analysis 
  • Local governance 
  • Community-Led Local Development 
  • Social and human sciences 
  • Indigenous knowledge 
  • Ocean Literacy 
  • Philanthropy 
  • Any other field deemed connected/relevant to the UN Decade of Ocean Science

 The call for expression of interest will remain open until 4 September 2020, 23.59 CET. Experts will be selected based on the technical skills, thematic knowledge, and international experiences needed in accordance with the principles of non-discrimination, equal treatment and absence of conflict of interests. By signing up, it is understood that the expert has received the authorization of his or her employer to dedicate time to the work of the Advisory Group. In addition, we will seek a balanced composition within the expert groups in terms of various skills, experience, knowledge, geographical diversity and gender.
