Australians have a deep connection to the ocean. As an island nation on the blue planet, it is no surprise that there are hundreds of organisations, institutions, communities and individuals invested in using, valuing, managing and governing the ocean. We work and play, explore and enjoy our ocean. Our lives are interconnected with its ubiquitous influence.
But what do Australia's Ocean Stakeholders know about each other?
How connected are we?
How could we do better, together?
Throughout 2021 we are dedicated to providing opportunities for the Australian Ocean Stakeholder community to provide their thoughts on what success would look like after a decade focused on the Ocean, how we would measure success and what it would take to make it happen.
We believe this is best done by providing opportunities to build understanding from a breadth of perspectives.
The first Ocean Decade Australia Stakeholder Briefing was held on 25 March in Sydney. The next Stakeholder Briefing will be held on Tuesday 22 June in Canberra.
